Hungerhill Vineyard is a English vineyard established in 2020 during the lockdown period. Located in the Bedfordshire, the Vineyard is owned by Andrew Barnes, who, since his twenties, has had a passion for wine, winemaking, and vineyards. During his visits to numerous vineyards, Andrew met friends who shared his interest in still and sparkling wine. The idea of starting a vineyard in Bedfordshire was born during a conversation with a friend who is a French winemaker based in Champagne. The friend believed that Hungerhill had the potential to make sparkling wine as the soil was perfect for growing high-quality grapes for that purpose. This conversation marked the beginning of the winemaking journey for Hungerhill Vineyard.
Our four-hectare Vineyard has an in-house winery that produces still and sparkling wines. We aim to bring friends and families together to celebrate life's smallest, biggest, and greatest moments with simplicity and excellence. Our Vineyard is in the heart of Bedfordshire. The region is known for its rich agricultural traditions and heritage. It has long been known for its thriving farming community. The Vineyard sits on top of a steep south-facing hill, providing an ideal environment for grape growing. This orientation improve frost drainage and ensures that the vines receive abundant sunlight throughout the day, resulting in some of the region's most delicious and high-quality grapes.
Our mission is to deliver delicious, high-quality wine using artisanal and traditional winemaking methods that respect nature and wildlife. We carefully select our grapes, control the fermentation process, and make our wine with attention and passion for ensuring the best possible tasting experience. Soon we will welcome visitors to the Vineyard to participate in various activities, including wine tastings, vineyard tours, and even the grape harvest. Hungerhill Vineyard embodies viticulture traditions and is a must-visit site for anyone interested in winemaking.
