Last July, we hosted our first ever wine tasting event, which was something we were really looking forward to but also nervous about! Our ultimate goal was to ensure that everyone attending the wine tasting had a good time, which is why we decided to limit the event to a maximum of 16 people. This way, everyone had a chance to chat with each other and feel comfortable talking to us.
We decided to host the wine tasting sooner than we originally intended because we wanted to give you the opportunity to try our wine in person and for us to meet you! Our wine tasting process began with a public announcement inviting those interested to let us know if they wanted to attend the event. Once we reached the maximum number of attendees, we contacted those interested to confirm their attendance, ask how many people were coming with them, and inquire about any allergies because we served nibbles to pair with the wine.
On the day of the event, we prepared the winery, bottles, table, wine tasting sheets, etc. The event started at 5pm and began with a visit of the vineyard by our winemaker and owner of Hungerhill Vineyard, Andrew Barnes. Then, we showed our winery where our wines, ferment and age in Burgundy oak barrels or stainless steel tanks. After the visits, we invited our guests to join us for wine tasting. We started with our Merstone Ortega, followed by our new wine, Merstone Chardonnay, which will be released in September, and finally, we tried our Merstone Rosé.
It was truly a pleasure to meet some of you and introduce you to our wine. We had a lovely time talking to you, hearing your thoughts on our wines, and were thrilled that you loved it and bought some of it back home with you.
Like everything, we learned a lot from this first wine tasting and will constantly strive to improve future events. We are planning to host our next wine tasting on the 15th of September. If you would like to attend, make sure to be on the mailing list if you are not already on it to receive an invitation and register your interest!
We look forward to meeting you soon!
